Consulting
I help untangle technical, product and career problems.
Over more than 20 years in IT, I have worked in many different roles—from developer, through team leader, to Engineering Manager. I have worked with code, teams, clients and digital products. I have made technical decisions, led people, recruited, solved organisational problems and seen the same challenges from different perspectives. Today, that experience allows me not only to build solutions, but also to help others structure a problem, look at it more broadly and find a sensible direction.
What can we talk about?
I do not limit these conversations to one narrowly defined area. The topics closest to me sit at the intersection of technology, product and working with people.
Technology
We can talk about application architecture, backend development, cloud solutions, code quality, technical debt or choosing the right technologies. My strongest practical experience is in areas such as Node.js, TypeScript, PHP, SQL, AWS, serverless solutions and AI-powered integrations. But it is not only about choosing tools. Often, it is more important to understand what problem we are trying to solve and whether the proposed solution is more complicated than the problem itself.
Digital products
I am interested not only in how a product is built, but also in whether it makes sense, what its scope should be and what value it creates for users. I am happy to discuss app ideas, defining an MVP, priorities, the technical consequences of product decisions and using AI in a way that creates real value instead of serving as a marketing add-on. I develop my own ideas as well, so I know the challenges involved in moving from a concept to a working solution.
Teams and leadership
For many years I worked as a team leader and Engineering Manager while staying close to technology. I led development teams, took part in recruitment and development conversations, and made difficult people-related decisions. I helped organise team work, support people's growth and improve collaboration between technology, business and clients. I can share that experience with people who are starting a leadership role, growing a team or trying to find the right balance between technical and management work.
Career development in IT
A career in IT does not always follow a straight line. We can talk about moving into leadership, returning to hands-on technical work, changing specialisation, choosing the next direction or dealing with challenges that appear after many years in the industry. I do not have a ready-made recipe for the right career. I can, however, share the perspective of someone who has gone through many different roles, decisions and moments of doubt.
Consulting or mentoring?
I do not attach much importance to formal labels. Sometimes one conversation focused on a specific problem is enough. In other cases, longer-term contact and a regular exchange of experience can be more valuable. I do not run a rigid mentoring programme and I do not use ready-made scripts. The starting point is always the real situation, the topic to discuss and the expectations of both sides. What matters to me most is an honest, concrete and collaborative conversation.
How do I approach these conversations?
I do not promise simple answers to complicated questions. I first try to understand the context, because a solution that worked in one company or team will not necessarily be right somewhere else. I am also not interested in proving that every situation requires a major change, a new technology or an AI implementation. Sometimes the best solution is to simplify an existing process, drop some ideas or leave things as they are. I may ask uncomfortable questions, point out risks and challenge initial assumptions—not to criticise, but to help look at the problem from a greater distance.
Who is it for?
I'm open to conversations with, among others:
- developers and other technical professionals,
- team leaders and Engineering Managers,
- people developing their own product,
- founders and business owners,
- people considering how to use AI,
- people facing an important career or technology decision.
You do not need a presentation or complete documentation. A specific topic and a willingness to have an honest conversation are enough.
Nature of the cooperation
I treat consulting and mentoring as paid, individually arranged forms of cooperation. The scope depends on the topic, expectations and whether one conversation is enough or longer-term contact would be more useful.
The first step is a short exchange of messages to assess whether my experience can genuinely be useful in the situation.
Let's talk
Do you have a technical problem, a product idea, a team-related challenge or a career decision you would like to discuss? Send me a few sentences about the topic. We can see whether my experience can be useful in your situation.
